Kepler learned how to roll over today! Here he is showing off his skills at this classic doggy trick!

Over a week ago I came down with a bad cough, which has seemed to linger in spite of proper rest and care. Yesterday I finally saw a doctor and it turns out I have either bronchitis or walking pneumonia, and am now on a slew of medications, including antibiotics and an opiate cough suppressant. Now the kids are coughing, too, and while their version doesn't seem nearly as bad as mine, we're hunkering down at home today in hopes of keeping it to ourselves. Joseph is old enough now to understand what being sick means, so he suggested to Rosalie that they spend some time resting in bed together. Here they are now doing just that! Wouldn't it be great if it actually helped them feel better sooner?

It had been quiet a bit too long this afternoon, so I went looking for Rosalie, and here's what I found! She somehow managed to grab this candy-filled Father's Day gift off the top of Tim's dresser and unwrap and eat several pieces before being discovered. She looks pretty pleased with herself!

Everyone loves snuggling with Daddy!

Joseph is all ready for his first swimming lesson this afternoon!

Here he is with Daddy just getting a feel for the water before the actual lesson. Once it got started, I was too far away to catch any good shots, but he reports that the beginning and middle were fun, and he only got really nervous during the back floating portion. I think he's off to a great start!

I sent the kids outside to find something to do before dinner this afternoon, and here's what they came up with! Occasionally, Joseph gets a turn to sit in the wagon while Rosalie tugs and pulls on the handle a bit. They sure do love playing together!

Tropical storm Hermine came right through our neighborhood today, with all its attending rain and wind. Joseph and I heard a loud crack and looked out the window just in time to see this huge branch smash unceremoniously into our neighbors' trucks. Luckily, only one looks obviously damaged, and apparently both are still drivable. That poor tree looks pretty sad now, though!

When I found this alphabet matching book mostly put together like this, I assumed at first it was Joseph's work. As I looked more closely, I realized he would never have mixed up 't' and 'f', but that was a perfectly logical mistake for Rosalie to make! When I asked them about it, they both confirmed that she had done all the pairing herself without any assistance from her big brother. I'm impressed with how many she placed correctly, and with how clever her mistakes really are for a two-year-old. She's obviously quite proud of her hard work!

Joseph and Kepler are learning to play catch together in the back yard this afternoon! It's going to take a little practice for both of them, but I think they're off to a great start!
